She is sexy, she is talented and is the reigning queen of Bollywood; well we are talking about Deepika Padukone

Born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore, Deepika Padukone was always a huge Badminton enthusiast, like her father Parkash Padukone and played in National Level championships. She later decided to take up modelling.

Prior to her Bollywood debut, she did a Kannada film, Aishwarya (2006), directed by Indrajit Lankesh. Though praised for her screen presence, Deepika was advised to work on her acting skills.

She had a dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om (2007) and what followed was nothing less than a fairy tale.

Post the Farah Khan movie, followed films like Bachna Ae Haseeno(2008), Chandni Chowk To China (2009), Love Aaj Kal (2009), Karthik Calling Karthik (2010), Lafangey Parindey (2010) and Break Ke Baad (2010) among others, but these were also the years when more than her career, her love affair with actor Ranbir Kapoor and the subsequent break-up made headlines.

However, it was her 2012 release Cocktail that made everyone take notice of this powerhouse actor. Though the movie received mixed reviews Deepika’s performance was appreciated.

The year 2013 was the year when Deepika’s dream run began. She gave as many as four back to back blockbusters and established herself as the hero of the Indian Film Industry.

Starting with Race 2 to Yeh Jawaani Hai DeewaaniChennai Express to Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ramleela, the golden girl of Bollywood was on a roll.

In 2014, Deepika Padukone again had a couple of releases like KochadaiiyaanFinding Fanny and last but not the least Happy New Year; the quintessential diva had arrived.

In 2015 she mesmerised us in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani and Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha and Shoojit Sircar’s Piku.

In 2017, DP went to Hollywood to make her mark as she worked with Vin Dieselin XXX: Return of Xander Cage.

She has now worked with superstars from Bollywood, Hollywood and South Industry.

In 2018, Deepika played the much controversy-laden role of Rani Padmavati in Padmaavat which was her third movie with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and at the end of the year she married her longtime boyfriend Ranveer Singh and everyone around the world went gaga over their wedding pictures.

Fun Fact: DP featured in music video of Himesh Reshamiya before making her big screen debut.
